What better way to overcome a fear of spiders... go into the "bush" get up close and personal and take photographs, simply magnificent creatures!
What a remarkable spider.... all of my images have been taken on Lugard Road at the Peak both on the north and south side of the Peak. The largest of them are bigger than my hand and I swear to god the biggest web I saw was well over 6 feet wide!
So far I have been lucky and have not been bitten and I sometimes get very close to them.. it is a jolly good idea not to touch the web as they move very, very quickly and I have fallen over twice in sheer fright at them scurrying across the web.
They can be a bit hard to spot but once you have seen them then you realise that they are everywhere at the Peak.. the freakiest ones are the ones that are above your head as you are walking along Lugard Road, imagine them dropping on your head. uugh..
